14 enthusiastic WOPpers set off from Whatipu Beach carpark to discover the whole track has been gravelled, staired and board-walked. The views were outstanding across the Manukau Harbour entrance to Awhitu Peninsula. We climbed to the trig at 214m with 360 degree views. 

Passing several groves of kauri was so special. On the return trip we took a side track to Signal Hill, with great views over the sand bar and west to Whatipu Beach. We finished with a 20 minute walk to see 3 of the Whatipu caves. Great to welcome two new WOPpers and share a coffee at the Huia store. Thanks, Kay!
