Seven of us headed out in beautifully sunny and bracingly cold and windy weather to explore the Arataki Area. Luckily we were mostly off the ridges and sheltered within the beautiful bush.
We walked a loop though the Nature Trail, and back to the Visitor Centre for morning tea. Then along Slip Track (with no slips performed by anyone!), Pipeline Road and back to the cars on Beveridge Track. On our walk we found a “field” full of curious large mounds of dirt and had a chuckle searching for any stray meerkats! We explored the old tram line and tunnels and hope perhaps one day it will re-open. It was so great to see so many families and young people out enjoying the beautiful Waitakere Ranges. Thank you, Linsey, for a wonderful walk!
