Fifteen WOPpers did the Five Volcanoes walk. We started at Albert Park (the quarried remnants of a volcano), went through the University, and up via Lovers’ Walk into the Domain/Pukekawa, the site of an ancient volcano. Over to the Wintergardens, with their stunning colours, and the Fernery, which are located on Pukekaroa Hill, also the site of a sacred tōtara tree and a memorial palisade honouring the 1st Maori King.
Leaving the Domain, we headed to Outhwaite Park (buried Grafton Volcano - late phase event of adjacent Pukekawa volcano), along to Maungawhau/Mt Eden, Te Kopuke/Mt St John, and Ohinerau/Mt Hobson. Thank you, Elizabeth. Another lovely day.
