Wow!  From the minute 15 WOPpers started the cliff-top Mercer Bay Track, the West Coast views were spectacular! First up, a stunning view back to Piha and iconic Lion Rock. Blue skies, a light breeze and a symphony of white foaming waves rolling up black sand beaches and rugged cliff faces. Excellent well-maintained paths and stairs, with great lookouts. After lunch, sitting on Karekare beach behind a sand dune, we took on the Ahu Ahu Track and other side of Mercer Bay Loop. A much-upgraded track that went up, up and up!
