There's always something so special about walking on Waiheke! A homely overseas feeling maybe?
Eleven upbeat WOPpers gathered at Matiatia Wharf, happily welcoming back our beloved leader, Linda, who was going to guide us on this beautiful morning.
Heading off on the main road, we soon branched off to the left following a steepish track to the top of the hill, where we enjoyed stunning views, which continued throughout the entire walk, sometimes with the addition of the sea, that looked more and more inviting, as we worked up a sweat.
Lots of ups and downs, good dry tracks with some steps, a walk along Oneroa Beach. A missed photo opportunity there, when some kind-hearted WOPpers helped float a boat, not shying back from getting their boots/feet wet.
After enjoying our lunch at a relaxing, shady spot at the headlands, we made our way back. Strolling through Oneroa, some of us stopped for a well-deserved beverage, keeping in mind we needed to remain LEGS, and not become legless!
A day to treasure, thank you Linda and fellow WOPpers!
