Women’s Outdoor Pursuits | Te Rōpū Wāhine Rēhia ā Taiao supports women by providing a program of regular outdoor activity.

Our values

Wellbeing: WOPs supports physical fitness, mental well-being and social relationships by encouraging women to participate.

Respect: WOPs recognises and supports the feelings, wishes and rights of others.

Safety: WOPs mitigates the risk of danger or injury by walking in groups and being well prepared.

Women’s Outdoor Pursuits | Te Rōpū Wāhine Rēhia ā Taiao

  • A group run by and for women who love tramping and other outdoor activities such as urban walking within Auckland and around the greater Auckland region
  • Our unique formula has sustained WOPs for many years
  • Introductory Courses promote safety, develop confidence and skills
  • Day tramping in and around Auckland on Tuesdays, Thursdays and every second Sunday.
  • Tramps are graded for level of difficulty, led by trained leaders
  • A well organised programme with a choice of days and tramps
  • Tramps scheduled during school terms
  • Car pools arranged
  • LEGS group for those s​​​​eeking shorter, slower or less difficult walks

Leaders lead groups in a manner that WOPs members determine as being culturally safe.  Leaders are aware of cultural safety and aware of individuals’ rights to hold personal beliefs, values and goals. They are aware of their own values that could impact on WOPs members in relation to age, ethnicity, culture, beliefs, gender, sexual orientation and/or disability.
