A scenic drive to the east side of the Kaipara Harbour was our introduction to this rural park. Like many others it is a working farm, and we had the pleasure of seeing an hour-old lamb following its mum to get away from a gaggle of 17 happy WOPpers. We spent a very pleasurable day on well-formed farm tracks and squelchy (code for muddy) grass. Every turn seemed to bring a view of another inlet or show off the expanse of this huge harbour. The bush in the gullies looked enticing, glossy and lush – a walk for another day perhaps. The weather gods were kind to us; it was great to have a rain free walk. Thanks, Jeanene, for a very pleasant walk. The 843 hectares of this park will, I am sure, draw us back for another excursion.
