It was rather a dull and overcast day when 26 of us ventured out to do the Te Atatu walk. Some of us had done this walk some years ago and for others it was for the first time. We started with some street walking and then followed along a bush track before stopping in the reserve for morning tea and celebrating two birthdays. We continued on along and stopped for lunch around the Te Atatu Yacht Club at the end of the peninsular. The track from there was very good with some interesting historical notices and a fascinating almost white flaking bark tree along the way.
We were also able to learn about the marine life and bird life on large notice boards as we continued along the Harbour Bay Reserve. Even though the skies were rather grey, the view of the Harbour Bridge and Sky Tower in Auckland was pretty spectacular. Thank you, Linda, for a very pleasant walk.
