TRIP SNIP (LEGS): Pine Harbour to Omana Regional Park, Thursday 1 September 2022

Our day began with a 30-minute ride on the Pine Harbour ferry, over smooth blue water. We even saw dolphins, before arriving at the world class Pine Harbour Marina, complete with shops and cafes. Our trail took us around the coastal trail to Beachlands and through housing to the Leigh Auton Reserve.  From there we followed the trail over the Te Puru Stream, into the Omana Regional Park and on to the Omana picnic area where we enjoyed our lunch.

We returned though the more residential areas of Beachlands, basking in the sunshine and camaraderie until connecting again with the coastal trail to the ferry at Pine Harbour.  From there we enjoyed the opportunity to rest and enjoy the harbour sights on the homeward ferry journey, passing between Musick Point and Browns Island (Motukorea), across the Tamaki River estuary and back to downtown Auckland.

Fifteen WOPpers had a delightful time enjoying the first day of spring and exploring an area with beautiful views of the water, the city, the very peaceful Omana Regional Park, with the usual chatting and interaction with others.  As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words: enjoy the beautiful photos taken by me and Deborah G.
