TRIP SNIP: Dannemora to Mangemangeroa, Tuesday 21 November 2023

A group of 20 including new WOPpers, Bridget and Kay, started from Glanworth Place access track towards Logan Carr Reserve.  This was a pleasant approach path leading to Hayley Lane, which provided a steep entrance to Mangemangeroa Reserve.  Lovely bush walking with very tall, regenerating totara and plenty of undulations preceded morning tea back on the heights at the Somerville entrance.  Two noteworthy highlights here; a wonderful view and one Portaloo (not to be despised given that Logan Carr reserve had no toilets).  Ups and downs followed as we passed Archie’s Lookout and descended onto a bush track which led us eventually to delightful Cockle Bay and lunch. Estuarine views along the Mangemangeroa Track were quite spectacular, especially with the creek running.  Our return was via a grassy hill to ‘Archies Rest’ – lovely, shady shelter.  From there we walked a wide grassy verge on Point View Rd and back to base bang on time after a pretty decent workout.  Great to discover this, thank you, Jenny.
