TRIP SNIP: Greenhithe Walk, 28 May 2024

This cleverly planned tour of Greenhithe, led by Jenny V, started from Wainoni Park where an attractive black mosaic of oval stones surrounding a colourful cockerel has been set into the park. Views and attractive pieces of bush and stream were highlights of this gentle, urban hike involving short, connecting street walks between local reserves.

We enjoyed views of Lucas Creek off Kingfisher Grove, and walked through Orchard Reserve and Oratau Reserve.  It was delightful to have morning tea at the picturesque and sunny Greenhithe Wharf. Tauhinu and historic Taihinui Reserves followed. Then we stopped for lunch with a view of Hobsonville Point at Marae Reserve, with its litter and large, decrepit tree house! Our return took us through the attractive Pounamu housing area and the beautiful Pounamu Reserve and stream.
