TRIP SNIP (LEGS): Mataia planting, 11 June 2024

Thirty WOPpers, plus Gill and Kevin, planted 1,500 plants on our planting day at the beautiful Mataia Farm. The weather was kind, just a few showers, the ground soft and muddy.

In 2013 several kiwi were released at Mataia. These kiwi have flourished, with a very successful number of kiwi calls recorded in the recent bird call survey.

Thank you, Gill, Kevin and family for all the hard work you do – fencing, planting and pest control. Thank you too for giving us the opportunity to be a small part of this journey.

All are welcome to join us again on Thursday 27 June for our second planting day, a special occasion for Matariki.
