Two trip snips for this popular walk!
(1) The day promised some rain, but as it was the first walk of the new term, it didn't deter the 25 keen WOPpers who turned up 'bright eyed and bushy tailed' to join leader Linda for another adventure.
We certainly needed boots – it being fairly wet underfoot – but most of the walk was in lovely bush and the paths were in good order. The highlight was walking over the new $2 million treetop walkway, a project six years in the planning, built to protect the bush from kauri dieback and provide the public with beautiful bush views of young kauri. Lunch was a relaxing stop at Little Shoal Bay with views over the water to the Harbour Bridge. Another great day and a chance to catch up with our WOPper friends.

(2) Twenty-five hardy WOPpers met at Onepoto Domain for a walk in soggy ground with a good dose of mud and skids.
Raincoats went on and off again several times, but we had an enjoyable, talkative walk around several green spaces. The highlight was the new treetop walk in Kauri Glen. Wow, this is a great bit of nicely constructed framework! But it's a pity that vandals have already pinched the decorative cutouts of native birds and trees adorning the rails.
Thank you, Linda, for showing us this gem. Note one photo of a very friendly miniature wooden Komodo dragon that has seen better days, sitting behind a neighbouring fence.
