TRIP SNIP: Duder Regional Park, 8 September 2024

On a fine spring morning 10 WOPpers set out, starting with a lovely walk along the coast to Duck Bay. There was a very helpful sign at the campsite, directing us, not to the composting toilet, but further along the coast to the bush path up to the headland. We enjoyed fine views of Waiheke and Ponui islands from the top.

Blustery winds and a shower or two kept us moving to a sheltered spot behind a barn for lunch. There was a fascinating sign pointing to a “bizarre and resilient Pohutukawa” which we could not find. We returned to the carpark through a beautiful bush valley with kowhai trees loaded with blooms and singing tuis. A stop at Maraetai for an ice cream on the beach rounded off a special day.

Thanks, Rebecca.
