TRIP SNIP: Atiu Creek Regional Park, Tuesday 22 October 2024

With lovely, super-fit Lyndsay as our leader, 17 of us set off on a warm sunny morning to do a loop around Atiu Creek Regional Park. A beautiful walk over gently rolling hills and fantastic views over the Kaipara Harbour.

We went along the track passing native bush and farmland to our morning tea spot, a small hill overlooking the harbour. From there we walked down to Oweka Tapu Pou in Soloman's Bay before stopping at the campground to wait until we had gathered as a group again.

When the last walkers arrived, we found out that Christine had fallen earlier, scraping her hand and knee, which Rosey had bandaged up. She was laughing about it however and said 'not again!' (apparently she is accident prone). Fitter WOPpers then went down to the jetty before we all walked back up the hill to the carpark, passing the farmhouse and some placid bulls in a paddock on the way.

So good to get back to WOPs walks and Atiu was a perfect start!
