TRIP SNIP: Mangawhai - Tanekaha Tracks, 21 November 2024

A great group of 18 WOPpers led by Elizabeth walked the Tanekaha Tracks near Mangawhai. The tracks offered a rich blend of natural beauty and bush immersion.

Located in the Brynderwyn Hills, the Tanekaha Tracks are part of a network of walking trails weaving through lush native bush. The area is renowned for its regenerating kauri forest, streams, waterfalls and varied terrain, which range from gentle inclines to more challenging sections.

The walk began along the stream. The highlight was reaching the picturesque waterfalls, a great spot for some photos.

The tracks are well maintained by local volunteers, with clear signage and a wooden bridge spanning the stream. Some parts were steep and required careful footing, particularly after recent rain, but the effort was well worth it.
