Human Lessons from a Wolf Pack on the Move

I came across this during the holidays and thought it was terrific – and might appeal to WOPpers.

A wolf pack on the move :

  • The first 3 are the old or sick: they give direction and pace to the entire pack. If it was the other way round, they would be left behind, losing contact with the pack and, in case of ambush, they would be sacrificed.
  • Then come 5 strong ones, the front line;
  • In the centre are the rest of the pack members;
  • Followed by the 5 strongest - experienced veterans.
  • Last is the Alpha male, alone.

The Alpha male controls everything from the rear, from which position he can see everything, all of the pack. The pack moves according to the elders' pace, always positioned to help and watch over each other.

                             ………………………………………………………………………………..

I am left speechless. Nature is amazing. I knew that wolves are different, but didn't realize how much we could learn from them. I didn't know wolves put the elders of the pack FIRST. Humans could take note... the elders are up front and visible, setting pace and direction while enjoying the protection of the pack - not invisible at the back of the line.
