Kidney Kids Dialysis Fundraising (from Kathy B)

I collect aluminium metal lids, wine and soft drink only, (not beer as they are steel, if they stick to a fridge magnet, they’re steel) and when my bin is full I sell them to the scrap metal dealer in Hillside Rd Glenfield (approx. $1.20 per Kg, this fluctuates on the World Market which can change daily, you can find this in the NZ Herald under Metals & Oils).  The scrap company press the aluminium in a machine that produces a thing called a Billet, then they on-sell to a smelter for melting down.  All monies collected go to Kidney Kids Dialysis.  Whenever I remember, I'll email you to let you know which walk I'll be doing next and you can bring along your tops.  A super-market bag is a good quantity, but of course I'll take anything you can manage.

This is such an easy peasy way of fundraising :-

  • it doesn't cost you any money, just time
  • if you don't drink wine or soft-drink, just tell your friends, family and neighbours to collect theirs for you
  • any questions phone me, 094139934 or email me, kathyblackbourn@gmail.com
  • there is no deadline, I've been doing this fundraiser for 6 years, children keep getting sick, they get help from the normal sources, but as my Mum always said, “every little bit helps”.

Kind regards,
Kathy Blackbourn
