I collect aluminium metal lids, wine and soft drink only, (not beer as they are steel, if they stick to a fridge magnet, they’re steel) and when my bin is full I sell them to the scrap metal dealer in Hillside Rd Glenfield (approx. $1.20 per Kg, this fluctuates on the World Market which can change daily, you can find this in the NZ Herald under Metals & Oils). The scrap company press the aluminium in a machine that produces a thing called a Billet, then they on-sell to a smelter for melting down. All monies collected go to Kidney Kids Dialysis. Whenever I remember, I'll email you to let you know which walk I'll be doing next and you can bring along your tops. A super-market bag is a good quantity, but of course I'll take anything you can manage.
This is such an easy peasy way of fundraising :-
