TRIP SNIP: LEGS - Moirs Hill and McIlroy’s Bush, Tuesday 26 February 2019.

A day to remember for all fifteen of us! It was a pleasure to be walking in amongst the tall nikau, and young kauri in the native bush! It felt like a combination of Waitakere tracks and Okura Bush – such fun even if it was up and down and an exercise in contouring hillsides tracking the red discs! Just bliss.

And the star of the day? A superb specimen of a dragonfly – large, brown and cream with tiny gold stripes on his abdomen – looking so smart he pranced, hovered and flew for the ladies to admire, much to our delight! He seemed as pleased to see us as we were to see him!

The Moirs Hill tracks were a surprise for those of us who had not been there before but McIlroy’s Bush overlooking the beautiful Mahurangi Harbour was even better. A timely reminder than we can find other places than the Waitakeres to breath fresh air and admire our stunning bush!

Thank you Linda.
