TRIP SNIP: Scott’s Landing - Casnell Island, Tuesday 19 March 2019.

As a  small group of 10 we set off from Scotts Landing following the eastern side of the coast over rocks and through the mud then over the hill to navigate more rocks and mud back along the western side to Scotts Landing. It was very tranquil and calm looking out to the water when you remembered to look up.

After a quick regroup we headed over to Casnell Island which has a causeway joining it to the mainland so no wet feet.

A very steep incline up a track then lunch under the pohutukawa tree overlooking the harbour. Worth the effort. It was then an intrepid explore of the island over and under fallen trees, down almost non existant tracks to find many beautiful huge pohutukawa trees and magnificent views of the harbour. A highlight of our walk. So it was back down the goat track to check out Scott Homestead and a quick walk up the ridge to catch more views.

Thank you Elizabeth for a great day out.
