Between Auckland & Devonport wharves a total of 17 woppers came on board for the ride to Waiheke for Kay's Southern Circuit walk.
After a short morning tea at Matiatia we headed up the coastal track so we could take in the awesome views & went out to Te Whetumatarau Point (pics attached). We then wound our way along towards Church Bay for a nosey. As the track further on is closed we retraced our steps & headed up & out onto Nick Johnstone Drive.
A bit of road walking required as heading towards Blackpool with a few stops on the way to off load clothes. Surprising just how warm the day got. Some great views on the way looking over to Mudbrick Estate & Cable Bay Vineyards. Then off onto a track down a private road which has public access as part of Te Ara Hura walkway & came to a clearing where we had lunch over looking Blackpool & Huruhi Bay.
After lunch wound our way down past Blackpool up the hill & came out at Little Oneroa, headed around the rocks & along Oneroa Beach & up to the village. Our favourite ice cream place was closed so those of us that didn;t rush to get 2pm boat stayed on for coffee etc & meandered back via the Atawhai Whenua Reserve in time to catch 3pm boat back to Auckland. A few stayed back to soak up the Waiheke atmosphere.
A pleasant day out thanks Kay. Pics attached of our trip back, our esteemed leader, Moutihe & the cloud which was damaged by the recent storm earlier in the week.
