On a lovely clear & calm morning 5 WOPpers arrived at Ti Point Coastal Walkway to walk with our leader Linda. With the tide in & water glassy a very attractive setting to start the day. We set off to enjoy the track & awesome views across to Omaha, Whangateau & further up to Anchor Bay Tawharanui. The day was perfect for viewing scenery & the twists & turns of the track with a few boulders to keep one alert (see pic of our happy little group!).
We enjoyed morning tea on a rocky outcrop looking down onto the water etc. & came across a large group of shags in the trees having a wee nap. At the end of the track we headed up hill following the fence-line & stopped to look over to Mathesons Bay where we would be later & admire the panoramic views. As the morning wore on it got a lot hotter so we headed back down over farmland & re-joined the coastal track, everywhere tinder dry. Lunch was enjoyed in a shady spot near the water then off to Mathesons Bay.
At Mathesons Bay we did the short walk up the Kohuroa stream, sadly very little water but great rock formations looked like parts of the Mokoroa stream at Goldies. It must look awesome when water is rushing down! Some of the step & handrails had been replaced recently, we viewed the swimming hole, but the water didn't look very inviting. However, a lovely walk thru bush. We then returned to the beach for a very welcome dip in the sea. We could see part of Ti Point where we had been in the morning.
Thank you, Linda, for an enjoyable day & great to have the opportunity for a swim to cool off!
