TRIP SNIP: Laingholm Bush and Beach, Tuesday, 4 August 2020

Eight of us had a delightful, low key day in the beautiful sunshine provided.  Laingholm Beach put us into a 'zen' state, given the glassy morning tide, not yet full, the distant views and the three herons stalking something in the water.

We walked up Western Drive to enter its 3rd and last bush access - Laingholm Scenic Reserve - a beautiful walk uphill to Victory Road.  We also enjoyed walking Tane Track, the trip along Lookout Road, and not least, morning tea on a secluded, sunny bank. Kauri Point Rd and a little track at the point, took us right down to the tiny bay where the majority decision was against swimming back round to Warner Park and our cars.  I was glad we walked back up the road, because only uphill did I appreciate the extraordinary forest along this road; some residents appear to live in the Kauri crowns!

Lunch at Laingholm Beach - see above - preceded a little hike over the Warner Park headland to the next bay with coastal return.  Thank you, Lee.
